GeeekPi Raspberry Pi Pico Starter Kit - Review and Parts Demo

These little Raspberry Pi Pico Starter Kits have everything you need to quickly get up and running on a Raspberry Pi Pico, whether you are an absolute beginner or an expert.

We would not normally buy these kits as we have so many bits of electronics lying around for all the different projects that we do but we were sent this from Geeekpi for us to just have fun with.

Our Brother received a kit like this for his 7th or 8th birthday to use with an arduino and he loved it, enjoyed learning the electronics and coding so much he hasn't looked back since.

We thought it would be fun and maybe interesting for a viewer if we did a review about kits like these as there may be a few viewers who are complete novices and not sure how to go about using the cheap and accessible Raspberry Pi Pico.

The box contains the following components:

  • A raspberry Pi Pico
  • Header pins
  • Active Buzzer
  • Basic LED lights
  • Display Module
  • MAX7219
  • NeoPixel Ring
  • Motion Sensor
  • Resistors
  • Jumper wires
  • Servo Pack
  • Breadboard
  • Instruction booklet

The booklet contains projects for you to get started using some of the components included in the box. In the video we have tested some of these components out. We even used the Motion Sensor in our Halloween project.

The whole set can be picked up for approximately USD46 which includes a Raspberry Pi Pico.

The Geeekpi comes with demo Circuit Python code that can be downloaded from github.

Additional resources on some of the parts can be found in the following videos and articles of ours.

We compared this to the kit that we had received about 6 years ago. Very similar but comes as a complete kit with the microcontroller. It has everything in the box to get up and running straight away for any small project or can be used as part of larger projects. We recommend this kit for anyone who may be a beginner or wanting to get into electronics or learning to program simple projects on a raspberry Pi Pico or microcontroller.
